What Do Chiropractors Do—Does it really Work? |

There are so many people who go to their chiropractor and receive chiropractic adjustments every single day—but many leave the office and head home wondering the same questions as multitudes before them have: do chiropractors really work—did I get my money’s worth? This is a multi-faceted question that has been the common ground for naysayers for the entire chiropractic history—but rest assured I intend to answer these woes and let you know for sure. Yes indeed, chiropractic adjustments work. For how long however, is a variable that depends on many differing factors.
For one, many people will sustain an injury, most often in a car accident or in sports that nets them a visit to the doctor to get chiropractic adjustments. Many of these people are just plain impatient. They fail to realize that physical therapy takes time; it takes a long time for your muscles to heal. They fail to realize that when muscles become injured they tear, when they heal large clumps of scar tissue will form, which can cause much uneasiness and pain during the healing process. So what do chiropractors do? They relieve unnecessary tension on the ligaments, the nerves and the muscles by making precise chiropractic adjustments to relieve such tension and allow the nerves to calm down and the muscles to heal.
Typically in the scenario where people are seeking treatment from an auto or sports related injury, the chiropractor will advise them to perform a number of exorcises that are meant to rehabilitate them every day. Many people fail to do these—which are essential to their healing process—and so they blame the chiropractor instead, for their own laziness. Another often suggested realm of therapy by chiropractors is massage therapy—which is intended to help break down the clumps of scar tissue and let the body naturally heal. So to answer the question, yes chiropractic adjustments do work. But you have to combine them with regular exorcise and massage therapy, which many people do not do. Those same people do not see the results that they want to see, usually end up blaming the doctors, when they themselves are really to blame. |
